Welcome to my Website

In it you will find select publications in mixed methods and qualitative research, all of the books I have written since 1985, my upcoming consulting workshops/presentations, frequently asked questions about research designs and methods that I receive from around the world, and contact information.

I am a Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where I teach courses and write about qualitative methodology and mixed methods research. I have been at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for 30 years and have authored or
co-authored 11 books, many of which focus on research design, qualitative research, and mixed methods research. In addition, I
co-Direct the Office of Qualitative and Mixed Methods Research that provides campus support for scholars incorporating qualitative and mixed methods research into projects for extramural funding.

I serve as the founding and current Co-Editor for the new Sage journal, Journal of Mixed Methods Research, and I have been an Adjunct Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Michigan and am currently a consultant to the Veterans Affairs Health Science Research Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Recently I was selected to be a Senior Fulbright Scholar and I will be working in South Africa in October, 2008, bringing mixed methods concepts to universities and studying documentaries about AIDS victims and families.  I play the piano, write poetry, and actively engage in sports.
